Unique VR experience in the spotlight during Festival of Tech
Why are we focusing on a VR Experience during the Festival of Tech?
We discuss this with Stef van Oss. He tells us what a visitor can expect and why such a mixed-reality experience fits so well with this innovative event. Also visiting the Festival of Tech? At the bottom of the article is a link where you can request tickets.
On September 4, 2025, the first Festival of Tech will take place at the atmospheric LIEF Amsterdam. This new industrial event is organized by FEDA and is aimed at engineers, technicians and technology enthusiasts. Visitors can immerse themselves in the world of innovative technologies, with interactive demos, presentations and experiences from leading companies in the sector. Apex Dynamics will of course also be present at the event, this time with an interesting VR Experience:
“We wanted to show something that is innovative. VR is still rarely used in our sector, and that is precisely why it is a good moment to show how our products are applied in machines. At the same time, it is a smart way to make maximum use of the limited space on a trade fair floor. We are now showing a relatively simple demonstration, but it is certainly a special experience. And of course it is also just an eye catcher: when someone is moving around with such glasses on, everyone stops to watch what is happening. For the person in the experience, what he is doing is logical, but for outsiders it seems as if he is waving in thin air. We like to make use of that curiosity.”
Mixed-reality VR Experience
The Apex Dynamics VR Experience uses a mixed reality setup, where visitors see a machine projected onto the exhibition floor via a Meta Quest 3 headset. The special thing is that you see the festival environment around you, while the machine seems to be standing lifelike in space. This virtual setup contains almost all products from the Apex Dynamics program, including gearboxes, racks, pinions and couplings. By moving with hand gestures, visitors can adjust their perspective on the machine. When they touch a specific component, they receive an audio fragment explaining its operation and application. The entire experience lasts about five minutes, long enough to get a good impression, but short enough to accommodate many visitors.
See gearboxes, racks, pinions and couplings in practice
Stef van Oss hopes that visitors will remember one thing after the event:
“The name Apex Dynamics and that we supply gearboxes, racks, pinions and couplings. If that young engineer is working on a new machine next week and wonders which transmission to use, he will remember our VR experience and think: that was at Apex, let me take a look there. Then it has already been a success for us.”
Why visit the Festival of Tech
“I think the Festival of Tech is the perfect place for young engineers and technicians to come together who are curious, want to learn and want to be surprised in a super relaxed festival environment. This VR Experience is just a fun way to get to know Apex Dynamics. It’s fast, interactive and just a little bit different than you expect.”
Interested parties can experience the VR Experience themselves on September 4 at the Festival of Tech. Apex Dynamics is making tickets available for relations and visitors who want to be inspired by the future of drive technology.
